OH when we were told about this one we were a bit shocked! As we have always known that this foundation does a wonderful job for children but we had always thought it was for the terminally ill children.  Well that’s not the case!  They have expanded the qualifications to include most children who have a serious medical condition. Below is from the Make-A-Wish website:

Who is eligible?
A child with a life-threatening medical condition, who has reached the age of 2 1/2 and is under the age of 18 at the time of referral, is potentially eligible for a wish.

So we worked with the Children’s Hospital social worker to make this happen.  The gals from Make-a-wish came to see Ana on Wednesday afternoon.  And talked about the four types of wishes she could do.  They also talked about the number of issues that come up with making certain wishes. Since Ana’s number one wish going into the meeting was to meet Chad Kruger, lead singer for Nickelback. The gal’s looked into this before seeing us and found out that Nickelback had not yet done a wish for a child yet.  Since there was no history it was hard to say if they would consider seeing Ana or if she would even see Chad.  There have been cases/wishes where in meeting a band most of the members would show up but not the person that child had really wanted to meet.  Sad yet true… The other pit fall is that without that history it was hard to say if she would get 5 minutes or an hour or more with the band. So it would be a long trip for to many unknowns for a young girl.

So what did she ask for her wish?
Well Ana has been a long time gamer!  Huge Nintendo, Sony Playstation and Pokemon fan. She asked to go to the Nintendo World Store in New York City. To buy Nintendo DS, other games and Pokemon Gear.

Her back up wish
To get an Ewok Village put in our front yard.  Ana’s been a Star Wars fan since she was 6weeks old!  Mom went back to work 6 weeks after she was born and to fill the time Ana and I would watch Star Wars.  I tried to find a nice photo/screenshot of what I’m talking about however just think of an interconnected treehouse system with decks and bridges.

To this day I say as far as favorite things Star Wars ranks about #4 or 5 on her favorite list, right behind Nickelback, video games, and Anime. So with that said if anyone knows Chad let him know Ana really wants to meet him! The band last played in Minnesota in September but it was at a time she just wasn’t able to make it medically with the double vision, it just would have not been safe.  She has seen the band in concert 3x already.
